Intro

This Glaivier build is made for both 1v1 and 3v3. It focuses on agility while constantly applying pressure to isolated targets and has a wide variety of CC capabilities. The main goal with this build is making your opponents waste their spacebar roll with Moon stance skills which will enable you to execute a high damage combo. The combo itself is very simple and requires a little bit of positioning but will drain the enemies HP bar in an instant if executed correctly.

Skill Breakdown

  • Chain Slash is a movement skill that has a built in stagger on the dash and on the spear hit. It is only usable with Chain Slash, Swoop tripod for the movement range
  • Flash Kick is a movement skill that has a built in stagger immunity with extra movement range and stun on hit. It can be used offensively, defensively, to intercept opponents or simply get out of messy situation. Very powerful skill that can interrupt opponents combo as it has a very fast cast time
  • Vault has a very good range and knock-up where it can be used as a combo extender or a combo starter
  • Half Moon Slash is main skill for setting up damage combo
  • Raging Dragon Slash high damage moon skill that also gives a long knockback and knockdown on everyone it hits
  • Wheel of Blades with Wheel of Blades, Tenacity tripod gives you super armor which can be used defensively or to interrupt certain combos that your opponents are trying to do
  • Spear Dive is mainly used as a movement skill, combo starter or combo extender as it also staggers opponents
  • Cutting Wind does not offer any protection while using, and it is mainly used to deal damage or finish off low HP opponents
  • Spiraling Spear, 4-Headed Dragon and Thrust of Destruction are 3 skills that you will almost never use, and they don't require any skill points, but since there are extra 12 skill points you can just put 4 skill points into each of them
  • Starfall Pounce is used as a damage dealing extension or a movement skill to engage or disengage from the fights
  • Dragonscale Defense is defensive skill that offers immunity to staggers and knockdowns when used and counter-attacks by stunning the opponent if you get hit. Timing this correctly can be used as a combo starter
  • Red Dragon's Horn is main damage dealing skill that with selected tripods has 100% crit chance and 100% crit damage while hitting with the spear tip. Requires a bit of positioning but very easy to combo off your other skills. Only use it when you can secure a hit otherwise you will lose out on massive damage dealing tool
  • Yeon-Style Spear Technique: Storming Red Dragon is the preferred awakening in PVP as the other one can easily be dodged by simply walking away since it has a high cast time. Both of them can work in PVP, and each can suit a different playstyle

Combat Stats

As Glaivier in PvP you want to go 750 Swiftness , 249 Domination and 1 Crit for that extra crit chance when it happens.

Combos

There is only 1 main combo that you will want to use with this build and it can be executed in two different ways. Combo #1 requires you to burn the opponents space bar roll after knockdown. This is essential as the follow up damage combo will not work if the opponent can simply roll out and dodge. You can force the spacebar roll by using your other moon skills that offer a wide variety of knockdowns and knock-ups. Just make sure to save the ones you need to start the combo.

Combo #1

  • If the opponent has spacebar roll available:
  1. Vault or Wheel of Blades to burn the spacebar roll after knockdown
  2. Raging Dragon Slash for a high damage, knockback and knockdown
  3. Take 1-2 steps away from the target
  4. Swap to Sun stance
  5. Start charging up Red Dragon's Horn and make sure you hit the opponent with the spear tip for maximum damage
  6. Finish off with Starfall Pounce for extra damage

Combo #2

  • Combo #2 does not require you to burn your opponents spacebar roll but it will be easier to land the combo.
  1. Half Moon Slash will use a stationary tornado that will knock-up opponent in the air
  2. Spacebar backwards while swapping to Sun stance simultaneously
  3. Start charging Red Dragon's Horn as the opponent is falling down from tornado straight onto your hit.
  4. If the timing was good and you were at good distance to hit with spear tip, the opponent won't have enough time to use space bar to roll out as he will get hit while he is still falling down
  5. Finish off with Starfall Pounce for extra damage

Gameplay

  • The main goal as a Glaivier in PVP is to be annoying and find isolated targets that you can focus
  • Pay attention to what your teammates are doing and keep an eye out if they force any opponent to use their spacebar roll. If they do it, this will be your primary target to combo
  • Depending if opponent has spacebar roll or not, execute one of the 2 combos to set yourself up for big damage
  • You can play solo and be very selfish as you have a lot of movement skills that can get you in and out of fights really fast
  • Always wait for your cooldowns before you go in and play defensive for couple seconds, while helping your teammates by peeling for them or setting them up for combo
  • Baiting with Dragonscale Defense is a great way to start the combo and set yourself or your teammates up for massive damage
  • Flash Kick and Starfall Pounce can be both used to start combo for your teammate, interrupt opponent combos or be used defensively to get away from fights or peel for your teammates

Summary

  • Be annoying to ranged classes in the opposing team
  • Glaivier is a fast melee class that can go in and out of fights quickly
  • Don't force a combo if the setup isn't good
  • Missing Red Dragon's Horn with poor setup and not paying attention to your opponents spacebar roll cooldown will result in a massive damage loss
  • Always force spacebar roll before any combo
  • Use awakening when in a pinch and you need a getaway free card
  • You have a lot of peeling skills to help teammates, but you can also play solo and be somewhat selfish
  • Always play around teammates and be defensive while waiting for cooldowns
  • Always be wary of your super armor skills as they can be used to get you out of pinch
