Intro

The Artillerist has a literal arsenal of great explosive combat, with lots of special effects and massive AoEs. (Michael Bay approves of this class). This makes him excellent at Chaos Dungeon and Cube content though lacking in mobility which is made up for with his self-shielding abilities. Possible engravings to help with this for the Artillerist are Preemptive Strike and Contender.

Skill Points Progression

  • At 268 Upgrade Gravity Explosion to 7 adding Gravity Explosion, Sweeping Gravity.
  • At 284 Upgrade Napalm Shot to 7 adding Napalm Shot, Flash Explosion.
  • At 312 Upgrade Gravity Explosion to 10 adding Gravity Explosion, Planetary Gravity.
  • At 328 Upgrade Summon Turret to 7 adding Summon Turret, Enhanced Turret

Skill Breakdown

  • Napalm Shot Stagger ability with a nice AoE stun for Elites and trash mobs with Napalm, Flash Explosion
  • Multiple Rocket Launcher Small blast radius filler skill great for Elite/Boss damage and clearing mobs when your main is on cooldown.
  • Flamethrower Burst Cone AoE that rapidly does damage whilst staggering mobs.
  • Air Raid Short delay big damage ground-targeted AoE.
  • Summon Turret Debuff turrets with Summon Turret, Armor Destruction.
  • Gravity Explosion Big AoE Holding skill with massive increased AoE and damage Perfect Zone at level 10 Gravity Explosion, Planetary Gravity.
  • Homing Barrage A 3 second time-delay nuclear rocket that deals huge damage and leaves a radiation field.
  • Energy Field A 40% shield that gives push immunity with Energy Field, Solid Shield.
  • Barrage: Howitzer Identity Gauge skill 1: Does significant damage with a ground targeted AoE good to throw out quickly.
  • Barrage: Focus Fire Identity Gauge skill 2: Does close range shotgun burst shots with mediocre damage.
  • Barrage: Energy Cannon Identity Gauge skill 3: Massive damage energy beam that can shred through almost anything it hits.
  • Bombardment: Impregnability Identity Gauge skill 4: Strong shielding ability typically used at the start during Barrage Mode.
  • Missile Barrage Your Awakening Ability, unleashes hell upon your enemies.

Gameplay

For ease of use during Chaos Dungeon and Cube content:

  • Keep a single Summon Turret up for the Summon Turret, Armor Destruction defense debuff to be applied to your targets at all times.
  • Use Energy Field whenever its available to give yourself Push Immunity to avoid interruption during other skill usage for as long as the shield is up and to consume less Health Potions.
  • Your main killing strategy will be to round up mobs and clear them with Air Raid and Homing Barrage whenever they are available (1 per trash mob pack both for bosses/elites).
  • Though not advised you can switch to Barrage Mode to use Bombardment: Impregnability, Barrage: Energy Cannon and Barrage: Howitzer as fillers. In most cases however it will be more efficient to avoid using Barrage Mode and cast your normal filler abilities instead.
  • You can move a little bit whilst holding down Flamethrower so back peddle to hit the mobs that tried to get behind you whilst firing.
  • Group up several Elites and unleash hell on them with Missile Barrage this will kill everything within its Area of Effect.
  • Rounding up Elites and standing in the middle of them by activating Energy Field to drop down Air Raid and Homing Barrage is a very effective strategy for dealing with Elites and trash mobs, this will also inflict heavy damage on Bosses.
  • Don't hold back with using your Missile Barrage as the Elites and Boss will give cooldown reduction on kill.

Stats

Use the stats that are relevant to your Class Engraving(s) and Tier relevant gear.

Runes

The runes selected enhance the natural ability of the skills and help soak a bit more damage, use the highest available for the ones selected in the skill planner, this does not have to be perfect but the better they are the easier it makes things.

Summary

  • Utilize your Energy Field for Push Immunity and Protection Rune(s) to absorb incoming damage and reduce Health Potion usage.
  • Cooldown reduction buffs are gained from killing Elites, Bosses and destroying Rift Crystals.
  • Utilize your Missile Barrage to quickly kill Elites and Bosses to regain the cooldown reduction for it and other abilities.
