Intro

Wardancer is a class that is oriented on heavy swiftness which increased attack speed, move speed and reduces cooldown. In tier 1 and tier 2, it is more oriented towards bursting which slowly moves to a more fast pace sustained damage the higher in tier 3 you go and unlock better tripods and gems that will reduce cooldowns even further. They have the best attack power party synergy buff and crit resistance debuff on bosses, which makes Wardancer a desirable class in any raid setup. It also offers high amounts of stagger where all attacks benefit from back attacks it is not a required playstyle as you don't have to build it that way.

Build Breakdown

  • Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God is your main damage dealing skill. You will always want to make sure you use it after buffing yourself.
  • Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation is your secondary damage dealing skill. Alternate between Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God depending which is off cooldown.
  • Sky Shattering Blow is your counter skill. It is very fast and becomes really easy to counter bosses. With correct tripods it gives a 3 second attack power buff and farms identity gauge.
  • Moon Flash Kick is your identity gauge farming skill that also has a decent amount of stagger and damage.
  • Flash Heat Fang is your stagger and destruction skill that also provides decent amount of identity gauge.
  • Wind's Whisper is a self buffing and party wide buffing skill that gives 35% attack power 16% move speed and 8% attack speed for 6 seconds.
  • Roar of Courage is a skill that debuffs the boss giving them -10% crit resistance for 6 seconds.
  • Energy Combustion is your main identity gauge farming skill that also gives you damage reduction for its whole duration which lasts for 20 seconds. Make sure it is always active and running.
  • Ultimate Skill: Fist of Dominance is your main awakening skill

Skill Points Progression

  • At 268 skill points add Flash Heat Fang, Weak Point Detection to Flash Heat Fang
  • At 284 skill points add Sky Shattering Blow, Ready Attack to Sky Shattering Blow
  • At 296 skill points remove Sky Shattering Blow, Ready Attack from Sky Shattering Blow and add Flash Heat Fang, Adrenaline Rush to Flash Heat Fang
  • At 312 skill points add Sky Shattering Blow, Ready Attack to Sky Shattering Blow
  • At 328 skill points add Energy Combustion, Intense Battle to Energy Combustion
  • At 356 skill points add Sky Shattering Blow, Abundant Resources to Sky Shattering Blow
  • At 356+ skill points upgrade Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God and Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation to level 11 and other skills as you unlock more skill points

Combat stats

Wardancer is a melee fighter that relies on high amounts of attack speed, movement speed and cooldown reduction and for that reason you want to prioritize Swiftness as a main stat while adding Specialization as a secondary stat on necklace. You will want to have 80% of Swiftness and 20% of Specialization for most optimal end game setup.

Runes

  • Galewind, 3 on Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God and Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation for faster cast speed
  • Wealth, 3 on Moon Flash Kick, Energy Combustion and Flash Heat Fang for full identity gauge farming
  • Focus, 4 on Wind's Whisper and Roar of Courage for mana consumption reduction
  • Bleed, 3 on Sky Shattering Blow as it has low cooldown and its spammable

Engravings

In TIER 1 and TIER 2 it is fairly hard to get the optimal starter engraving set, as it requires a lot of luck to get engraving stats on all accessories, which also goes against you since you will have to change these accessories every time you progress to a different tier. For early TIER 3 engravings you should aim for a level 3 Esoteric Skill Enhancement and Raid Captain as it goes well with high swiftness and high move speed. You will want to periodically add other engravings in no specific order Grudge, Keen Blunt Weapon, Adrenaline and Increases Mass as your final ultimate end game engraving setup. You can also alternate and add Ambush Master as Wardancers benefit from back attacks.

Gems

Gems are split into two types, attack gems and cooldown gems. You can equip 11 gems at the same time but they cannot be for the same skill.

For attack gems you want to go for:

  1. Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God
  2. Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation
  3. Moon Flash Kick
  4. Flash Heat Fang
  5. Energy Combustion

For cooldown gems you want to go for:

  1. Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God
  2. Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation
  3. Moon Flash Kick
  4. Flash Heat Fang
  5. Wind's Whisper
  6. Roar of Courage

Cards

Budget starter card set - You will need 12-piece awakening to gain the benefit of 7% crit chance increase

Lostwind Cliff

Optimal damage end game set - You need 30-piece awakening to gain the absolute max out of the card set

Gameplay and Skill Rotation

Wardancer skill rotation relies heavy on farming the identity gauge and having your main buff and boss debuff ready to then use both of your esoteric skills during those 6 seconds.

Main identity gauge farm rotation:

  1. Energy Combustion for constant identity gauge farm
  2. Moon Flash Kick
  3. Flash Heat Fang

Main damage rotation when full identity:

  1. Wind's Whisper self buff
  2. Roar of Courage boss debuff
  3. Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God
  4. Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation
  5. Repeat identity farm rotation and wait for cooldowns

The whole rotation is very simple and it might seem very boring as you always do the same thing, but due to low cooldowns you will have almost 0 downtime and it will feel super fast to keep doing same rotation all the time. You need good knowledge of boss mechanics and good positioning but even if you miss your main damage skills it doesn't matter in the long run as your cooldowns are low and you will have those skills back within 10 seconds. Always buff yourself first and debuff boss before you use awakening skill too.
